Message from Mrs Stuart - Head Teacher, Victoria
Victoria Primary School is situated at the heart of Falkirk. This unique position gives us the opportunity to take advantage of a number of local landmarks and places of interest as an integral part of our wider curriculum learning.
We are extremely lucky to be close enough to access the world-renowned Kelpies and the adjoining Helix Park. Falkirk Football Stadium, Callendar Park and Falkirk High Street are also within walking distance. This allows our pupils a fantastic opportunity for developing sustainable links with partners and local business, which gives pupils the opportunity to ‘make a difference’ in their local community.
Victoria Primary School currently has 13 mainstream classes, with most stages being double-stream. This allows staff an opportunity to jointly plan, co-teach, team teach and engage in co-operative learning opportunities. These approaches allow learning to be active and engaging, helping children to build on previous skills.
Victoria also has a bright and purposeful Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) setting. The nursery pupils get many opportunities throughout the year to take part in learning opportunities with P1 and P6/7 pupils.
Victoria Primary also offers an Enhanced Provision (EP) facility for a number of pupils throughout the Falkirk area. These pupils are a great asset to Victoria Primary School and take part in every aspect of school life. We currently have 2 EP classes – The Nest and The Hive.
The vision of Victoria Primary School is for all pupils to Try, Believe, Achieve. At all times we aim to foster in our pupils positive attitudes to work, achievement, self-belief and the wider world. We consistently promote positive attributes across the school and encourage our learners to be Ready, Respectful, Responsible, Reflective and Resilient.
We support the pupils to develop the skills to enable them to live a fulfilling life, contributing positively as they make their way in the world. We aim to prepare our pupils for the opportunities and challenges of the future, to help them achieve their full potential and follow their dreams.
As well as keeping an ambitious focus on academic achievement and attainment, we also recognise and celebrate all aspects of our pupils’ development and wider achievement. Pupils plan collaboratively with staff to take decisions on learning and the life of our school. We put creative learning and pupil voice at the heart of all we do.
We have an enviable outdoor space. We make full and regular use of this to deliver high-quality Outdoor Learning opportunities, which complements our focus on Learning for Sustainability.
We have strong links with Graeme High School, which is where most of the pupils from Victoria Primary School transition to for their secondary education, although some children may transition to other schools through choice. Click here to see the GHS website.
