Hi everyone, I’m Jen Cairns the Graeme Cluster Active Schools Coordinator. I work across all 6 schools in the cluster including Victoria Primary School.

The goal of Active Schools is to provide more high quality opportunities to participate in sport within schools. We work with Physical Education (PE) professionals to ensure better coordination between PE and school sports, and also to encourage the development of more physically active children and young people.

While our focus is sport, our activities connect to the wider landscapes of play, dance, exercise and active living – we know that a joint effort is required to deliver the health and performance related fitness our children and young people deserve.

We can’t do what we do without the help of our fantastic volunteers, local coaches and clubs. Within the school staff give up their time to take schools teams, provide sessions and support out Young Sports Leaders programme. Our local clubs support the programme providing free taster sessions in their specialised sports. All sessions provided by active schools are FREE!

Victoria Primary School is a Sportscotland Gold School of Sport in which we have show excellence in Sport, Physical Activity and PE.  We are very proud of this award and wish to continue the hard work to be re-accredited with this in the future.
